Crystal Tipped Nails

American Apparel's Glitter nail polish - Super pretty, nightmare to remove....

Clear base coat to start, then use a fine glitter polish to create a glitter gradient down the nail
Finally use American Apparel Glitter in 'Galaxy' to tip each nail. May take a couple of coats to get full crystal tipped effect.

Shiro Cosmetics Review
An Indie make up company specialising in make up and geekery!

THE PROS
A 100% vegan and cruelty free brand <3
Super geeky themed collections with cute shade names
Great colour payoff
Amazing staying power
Applies easily

THE CONS
Unfortunately it takes a fairly long time to ship to the UK, I think my order was about 3-4 weeks – But if you don’t mind the wait then its definitely worth it!

My samples arrived in sweetly wrapped package with a free candy and extra samples.
My first set were from the Portal inspired ‘Science Collection’
Reverse Psychology ‘Medium purple with bold green shimmer and lime glitter’
Still Alive ‘Cool bright green shimmery green with a subtle green-to-pink duochrome shift and lime glitter’
Emancipation Grid‘Bright, cool, shimmery blue with golden undertones and sparkle’
Aperture Laboratories‘Shimmery white grey with brilliant blue sparks’ (I think the sparkles are more purples & greens and quite subtle but pretty)

Swatches

Swatched on bare skin top row, and over Two Faced Candlelight primer on bottom row.

Pastel grunge

A little bit of summer inspired shopping on this horrible rainy day...
Im really into pastels at the moment, but with an grungy, edgier style to them. Loving all these pastel skulls and studs :)
On this theme, I've just had a go at dying in some washed out dirty pastel colours into my hair
I've used Stargazer's Coral blue and Shocking pink, mixed with 2 parts conditioner to 1 part dye.
Left colours on for only 5 or 10 minutes before rinsing for a really pale, almost dirty look.
You can see in the bottom image that just using these two colour actually creates a whole spectrum of colours; pinks, lilacs, blues and greens

Long time no posts....

Ok so I have been very slack on the posting for the last few months - but i have a VERY good reason! I got accepted into medical school in september, so the last 6 months have been completely packed with new experiences and information overload!

Anyway, things have started to settle down now & I'm pleased to say i'll be getting back into posting up some nail designs and other such treats :)

So heres a cute little Hello Kitty french tips design, using waterslide decals:

I also recently got my first package of Sugarpill cosmetics shipped over from the states
Including Tako (white)and Dollipop (pink)

Here I've used Tako to highlight and Dollipop as the main colour, with shading using Urban Decay's Black Palette....
Plus some cutesy pastel nail art :)

The Sugarpill pressed shadows have really good staying power, especially used with primer.
Both colours are very vivid and apply easily - I'm so excited to try some more, I particularly like the look of Afterparty and Poison Plum :)

Coming soon: OCC & Lime Crime products & lip art!

Nails of the Day - Alice In Wonderland v1.0

Heres todays Alice in Wonderland inspired look, using fimo cane slices and rhinestones.

I wanted to do two different Alice in Wonderland looks, this is the first - more based on the queen of hearts, a red/black colour scheme, crowns, playing cards, the white rabbit etc.

My second look will be a blue-based Alice inspired design, which I'll hopefully get up this week.

Super Cute Kawaii Nails

Just a short post of some nails I did for the weekend, using fimo rod slices and nail art rhinestones...

I wanted something really girly and I've just got a new set of fimo rods sent from china which included some hello kittys, hearts, stars, lollypops and bows...

The bases are all Barry M colours, I've used a pink, a lilac and a glitter polish. I used clear topcoat and attached the fimo slices directly to this while wet.

When dry, I used a second topcoat over the top of the gems and fimo pieces to seal them to the nail. I usually use nail glue for this, but this technique worked just as well and the pieces stayed put for several days, despite my poledance classes and going to a festival!
