Nails of the Day - Alice In Wonderland v1.0

Heres todays Alice in Wonderland inspired look, using fimo cane slices and rhinestones.

I wanted to do two different Alice in Wonderland looks, this is the first - more based on the queen of hearts, a red/black colour scheme, crowns, playing cards, the white rabbit etc.

My second look will be a blue-based Alice inspired design, which I'll hopefully get up this week.

Super Cute Kawaii Nails

Just a short post of some nails I did for the weekend, using fimo rod slices and nail art rhinestones...

I wanted something really girly and I've just got a new set of fimo rods sent from china which included some hello kittys, hearts, stars, lollypops and bows...

The bases are all Barry M colours, I've used a pink, a lilac and a glitter polish. I used clear topcoat and attached the fimo slices directly to this while wet.

When dry, I used a second topcoat over the top of the gems and fimo pieces to seal them to the nail. I usually use nail glue for this, but this technique worked just as well and the pieces stayed put for several days, despite my poledance classes and going to a festival!

EOS Adult Blue Lenses

I got my first lenses recently after reading some inspiring posts by Anna at http://fenuabeaute.blogspot.com/ - She's a go-to blogger for info on lenses and where to buy them, plus a super talented make-up artist. I bought my lenses from Kiwiberry

The lenses I choose were EOS Adult Blue (old) and they arrived within a couple of weeks of ordering and came with a free lens case.

Having never worn lenses its taking me a while to get used to, but I was surprised how easy they were to get in and out of my eye. The only problem I've encountered is the lens getting caught under my eyelid on one eye! For some reason it just wont fix in the right position like it does on the other eye. Hopefully more practice and experience with lenses will sort that out!

My eyes are naturally green, so blue seems to work quite well. The lens diameter is 14mm so it fully covers my iris and looks quite natural.

[indoor, natural light]
Make up:
Lips: MAC 'Girl About Town'
Eyes: Urban Decay 'Jet', Barry M lilac, L'oreal Carbon Gloss Super Liner
Two-Faced Shadow Insurance
Upper & Lower Lashes from ebay

Pirates of the Caribbean Nails of the Day

With the super exciting release of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, I've gone crazy for Pirate themes...not to mention for Lego Pirates of the Caribbean on Xbox 360!

Me and the boyf went to the opening night showing of Stranger Tides, and heres the special Nail Art tribute I did for it...

I also got this AMAZING ring from a little kooky shop on my street, perfect for a pirate premier

How Davy Jones is that little guy?! I love him!

Not one to miss a trick, OPI have launched a Pirates of the Caribbean collection, which quite frankly looks amazing...

Left to right: Mermaids Tears, Stranger Tides, Planks a lot, Sparrow me the Drama, Steady as she Rose, Skull & Glossbones, Silver Shatter

I want this so bad it hurts, especially Mermaids Tears and Planks a lot...and of course the silver shatter! I can think of some Lime Crime lipsticks that theyre gonna look ace with :)

Candy Robot Hearts (Lush Review)

So I've been lost to the blogosphere for a couple of weeks which I apologise for...
Anyway I'm back today with some of my recent Lush purchases:

'Creamy Candy' Bubble bar, which is similar to the Fluffy Egg I got for easter. I also bought 'Ickle Baby Bot' ballistic and 'Soft Coeur' Massage Bar.

Lush says 'Creamy Candy' gives you "Sweet, frothy and fluffy bubbles that smell like custard creams". Theyre not wrong, this bubble bar smells like a vanilla candy heaven. Its gorgeous, definitely for you if you like the Fluffy Egg or Rock Star soap.

The 'Ickle baby bot' ballistic is a super cute robot shaped bath treat, great for kids but perfect if you're a massive geek like me :P
Its lavender scented and makes for a soothing, relaxing bath - great to get you off to sleep after a stressful day. Turns your bath a subtle pretty blue too :)

Finally theres the Soft Coeur massage bar - For this review, I roped in my lovely boyfriend to give me a massage using this sweet little heart. It's a delicious cocoa smell, mingled with honey and omg you just want to eat it. It takes a little while to get enough of the bar melted, so definitely easier if you have very warm hands. Once on it felt lovely and the smell was gorgeous the whole time. It wasn't as sticky on my skin as I was expecting it to be either, which was a plus.
Try it if you like 'Honey I Washed the Kids' and 'Ma Bar' bubble bar. YUM!

Star Wars Day Nails - May the 4th Be With You

Today I received a bunch of packages I've been waiting for from overseas, including lower-lash eyelashes, a set of nail art pens and my first pair of EOS lenses!

As today is May 4th, I've used my new pens to do a Star Wars inspired nail set featuring Boba Fett, a stormtrooper and R2D2 :)

I bought these nail pens really cheap (about £8) on ebay from an international seller and they're really good for getting to grips with nail designs.
The lower lashes seen above are also from ebay, but im not completely convinced that these are good quality ones, so I'll have to test them out later.

I'll be trying out and reviewing my first EOS lenses tomorrow, with links and more info about lenses....

Nails Of The Day - Pink Leopard Print

So this is a design that its quite easy to find tutorials and variations of online, but for me its my go-to design when I'm not feeling quite as creative, or like today when I dont have much time to spend on nails.
For this you will need a fine brush or cocktail stick for the detailing.

First file and buff nails and apply a base coat (I use OPI 'Start to Finish'), before applying your base colour - Here its Shocking Pink by Barry M.

Next, take your second colour (I used Strawberry Ice-cream by Barry M) and apply a few small dots to each nail. Dont do too many or it becomes overcrowded, about 3-4 is enough.

Finally, using a fine brush take a black polish and add semi-circular 'c' shapes around the sides of each dot. Do this in different directions to create a random looking pattern & add a few small black dots in any big spaces left over.

Voila! Perfect if you want a nail design that doesn't take too long :)

Easter Treats from LUSH

This morning I got a package from my mommy full of easter surprises!

Along with several pairs of pink tights and an adorable baking apron, my mum sent two delicious ballistic bath bombs from Lush...
The pink one is an Easter special called 'Fluffy Egg', which smells of Lush's 'Snow Fairy'..a Nom-tastic sugary smell, its my favourite :) Plus it turns your bath an amazing bright pink. Way better than a real easter egg!

The other ballistic is 'Fox in the Flowers', which has a musty floral smell and is packed with dried flowers. The smell isnt really my cup of tea, as I like more chocolatey or sugary scents and this smells a bit like my parents dodgy patchoulli products (Yuk! Sorry mum!)
The dried flower pieces annoy some people once they're unleashed into your bathwater but personally I dont mind it, so that doesnt put me off. Definitely recommended if you like mustier scents - watch out for the flower pieces clogging the drain though!

I'll be getting a couple more lush products next week on pay day, so should have a couple more reviews up then :)

Pandas and Piercings

It comes as a big surprise to most people who know me when I mention the fact that up until now I've never had my ears pierced...

I've had three lip piercings, a septum ring, a navel bar and a microdermal in my cheek, but never the most basic of punctures - The earlobes!

Well now thats finally changed after I realised there are just too many cute earrings out there that I'm missing out on.

The actual needle in the ear part was obviously the least painful piercing I've ever had, but the healing process is by far the WORST! Every time I lie down it kills me! Seems like my ears get smushed about a lot more than I'd have imagined.....

Anyway, todays LOTD is a spring brights inspired nail design
With a little added Panda thrown in.

1. Barry M 'Cyan Blue' 2. Diagonal half nail in Barry M 'Berry l/c' 3. Andrea Fullerton Stripe & Sparkle, Panda nail art from chinatown & OPI 'Start to Finish'

'Quite Cute'

My newest wishlist additions come from MAC's latest collection, 'Quite Cute'.  A collection dedicated to sugary brights and candyfloss pastels, its full of products I'm desperate to get my paws on!
This week I bought my most lusted-after item in the collection: 'Candy Yum Yum' Lipstick....

Photobucket
And this is what it looks like on (indoor light, no lip primer):

It seems to dry my lips out a little more than my other MAC lipsticks, so I think i'll be pairing it with glosses in future, but the colour is the brightest boldest pink I've managed to find yet. Plus I freakin LOVE that MAC lipstick smell! <3 I'd recommend this if you like MAC's Saint Germain and Girl About Town, which are my two favourites :) My other most wished for items in this collection are the nail lacquers:

Ice cream cake, little girl type, mischevious mint

I'm particularly keen on the lilac, 'little girl type', so hopefully I'll get some nail shots up here soon.....
xoxo
